Health

Since the age of 26, Affleck has been taking antidepressants for his anxiety and depression. He adheres to a 12-step program and is in recovery from alcoholism. He said he drank to ease a persistent "discomfort" he was experiencing.

Relationship with Jennifer Garner

From 2005 till 2018, Affleck was wed to the actress Jennifer Garner. After becoming acquaintances on the sets of Daredevil (2003) and Pearl Harbor (2001), they started dating in August 2004.

Religious beliefs

Despite coming from an Episcopalian family, Affleck did not grow up in a religious home. He named the Gospel of Matthew as one of the texts that influenced his life in 2008.
